“We are what we are because of our circumstances and surroundings”. True, we make our own life, but the direction to our life is determined during the stages when we are dependent and helpless.

Dear friend, I believe that you have been blessed by the Almighty to be in position to read this article and do the needful help to the deserving helpless children.

Most of the beautiful and important things in life viz. parents, brothers and sisters come absolutely free. However, most of us tend to overlook this privilege and blessing that we’ve got. Friends, please consider the case of helpless children who are deprived of these most important things in life, for no sin or fault of theirs, but due to mere circumstances and fate. Spare a thought for these innocent kids, and you can hear your mind telling you something at this point of time.

It will be a great help from your part if you could do something to make these innocent kids share the joys you are experiencing… to make them feel they are a part of an extended family.

My Endeavour

When I was working as a vocational teacher at Central Prison Thiruvananthapuram, I came to know about the heart breaking stories of the female convicts. In most of the cases it was the circumstances that led them to this stage.

Born as daughters to poor parents and brought up in inhuman conditions, deprived of proper education and knowledge they fell into wrong hands, and ended up being a bane to the society we all are a part of. Poor social and economic conditions forced some of the children to take up the wrong path in order to support their family, which comprised of mentally or physically challenged dependents. Naturally in some cases, these unfortunate girls ended up giving birth to children who were not born out of mutual love and understanding.

Friends, should we let this cycle continue? Should we again allow these children to follow the path of their mothers and continue in ignominy? If we let this continue, it’s not only the person engaged in immoral business who’s to be blamed, but all of us. If you look at it from the right perspective, it becomes the duty of each and every one of us to do our part to help these children lead a dutiful, self-supportive and moral life. Its our prerogative to ensure that these special children lead a life as responsible citizens of the society.

I believe you have understood the gravity of the situation and that you have a compassionate heart to do your best to chip in with help. Please do help the institution in any way that is comfortable for you to make a difference to the lives of the maximum number of such kids. Help DCH provide them proper education and training by which they will be able to support themselves in future.

Currently the institution is finding it difficult to meet the needs of day-to-day activities, as there is no proper source of income. It is only through your help that the institution can support the children and go forward with its activities. So I request you to render financial and moral support in everyway you can. We will be praying for you. God will bless you as you’ll be remembered in the prayers of innocent kids in need..
